FISHING METHOD :Floating line with 10 -16 Ft leader. Use the count down method to get the fly just off the bottom. Use a slow to medium retrieve (4 - 8 inch steady strips) with a pause added every 5 - 8 pulls. Use the same retrieve for sinking lines. Try using this fly on the shoals and in the lily pads during the fall.

TYING NOTES:
First pinch your barb, and then lay a thread base down.
Tie in 10 - 15 deer hair fibres for the tail. The tail should be the length of the shank of the hook.
Tie in 15 - 20 deer hair fibres for the shellback. The hairs will be pointing in the same direction as the tail.
Tie in the chenille along the length of the hook shank. This will keep the body even throughout the hook shank.
Wrap the chenille up the shank of the hook and tie off.
Pull the deer hair forward to complete the shellback. Tie off the deer hair.
Build a small head with thread.
Whip finish and cement the head of the fly.
