FISHING METHOD :Floating line with 10 -18 Ft leader.  Use a slow retrieve (6 - 8 seconds for each hand twist) with a couple 2 - 3 inch pulls every 25 - 30 seconds. Try this pattern in the spring or fall before or after turnover. I  have fished this pattern when the wind has stirred up the shoals or mud bottom.

 Hook  Teck twin NF 200 size 8 - 16
 Thread  6/0 Red
 Tail  Super floss, split
Ribbing  Gold, silver or red wire - fine
Body  Frostbite - red, maroon or green

TYING NOTES:

  1. First pinch your barb down, tie in the thread base.

  2. Take a strand of super floss and split one end with a dubbing needle.

  3. Tie in the super floss the length of the body. Stretch  the floss to reduce the bulk of the body.

  4. Split the tail to the bend of the hook.

  5. Tie in the ribbing material the length of the hook.

  6. Tie in two strands of frostbite back from the eye of the hook.

  7. Moisten, and wrap the frostbite to the bend of the hook. Continue to wrap forward to the eye and tie off.

  8. Counter wrap the rib forward (7 - 9 wraps) and tie off.

  9. Build a head and whip finish the fly.

  10. Apply a coating of nail polish or super glue to add shine and durability to the fly.

I received this pattern from Phil Rowley at the 2001 Outdoor show. Brian Chan uses stretch flex or super floss for the body. Brian ties the tail with a small bunch of marabou fibers that match the body. The body color can be tied in red, olive-green, tan, or light-brown.
