FISHING METHOD :Floating line with 10 -18 Ft leader. Use a strike indicator to help keep your fly at the feeding depth. Use a slow retrieve (6 - 8 seconds for each hand twist) with a couple 2 - 3 inch pulls every 25 - 30 seconds.
| Hook | Curved shrimp hook size 10 - 18 |
| Thread | 8/0 black |
| Bead | Clear or pearl glass bead |
| Ribbing | Gold wire (5 - 7 wraps) |
| Body | Super floss or frostbite -black |
| Thorax | Peacock herl (1 - 2 strands) |
| Wing Case | Pheasant tail fibres |
TYING NOTES:
First pinch your barb down, slide bead on the hook.
Tie in the ribbing material the length of the hook.
Tie in the body material, wrap forward to the bead, tie off.
Wrap the ribbing forward (5 - 7 wraps) and tie off behind bead.
Tie in the pheasant tail fibres behind the bead, tie in the herl and build the thorax (4 -5 wraps).
Tie off the herl, pull the wing case back over the peacock herl.
Whip finish the fly.
I have tied the thorax in reverse, this technique doesn’t crowd the head or bead.
