SALMON ON THE MOVE

Shuswap River (Lumby)

Salmon on the move in August 1995.  A joint effort between the Federal Fisheries, the Shuswap Hatchery and our Club to catch and transport some 289 spawning Chinook salmon to spawning beds 5 km above the Shuswap Falls. Here they were tagged and released into the river. Fry traps were installed above and below the dam to monitor fry production and migration. The results would provide valuable data on the feasibility of building a fish ladder around the Wilsey Dam. (Photo's by Jim Fisher)
